A 70-year-old man named Rajendra Gupta was critically injured when a reversing Toyota Fortuner SUV ran over him in the narrow streets of Jhansi's Sipri Bazaar area, Uttar Pradesh. The incident, captured on CCTV, shows the white SUV reversing when Gupta was struck and dragged under the vehicle. Nearby residents, alerted by Gupta's screams, rushed to help. The driver, upon realizing the situation, moved the car forward, further injuring Gupta before stopping and assisting in transporting him to a nearby hospital.
Following the incident, the local police were notified, and a case was registered based on a complaint by Gupta's son. The driver faces charges of reckless driving, endangering life, and causing grievous injuries under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to ascertain the full circumstances of the accident and ensure justice for the injured man.
